adoption update
Well, we have not posted any updates, because there isn't much news to report. But here goes...
First the good news:
- We get a picture and very very very brief report about Sara and our case about once a month. So we have two new pictures -- one smiley & one kind of cranky. We of course like the smiley one. She's gaining weight & repotedly in good health. So that's good. There's not extra detail though... no "Sara learned to use her pincher grasp today" kind of thing, so we can only guess what she's up to based on her age.
The less good news:
- Our adoption agency person, Mary, suddenly left the agency. And her replacement doesn't start til October. The agency office was only two people--Mary & Bonnie--and apparently Bonnie handles other things, so basically, no one is working on our case here in CO. While most of our case is now being handled down in Guate, by the lawyer there, it's hard to imagine that having Mary leave will help move our case along. So we're frustrated by that & crossing our fingers that it doesn't matter too much.
- Because of some recent weird events in Guate--babies put up for adoption that were somehow taken from the parents--adoptions are being processed more slowly by the Guate government. Obviously, we don't think kids should be adoptied out without their parents consent! But it is hard not to, selfishly, wish they'd just move things along already.
And that's about it. As far as we know it is still within the realm of possibility that Sara comes home by the end of the year. But there's really no telling...it mostly depends on the Guate court system & is completely beyond our control, out lawyer's control, or anyone's ability to predict. So we just don't know when she will come home.
So cross you fingers & direct your good thoughts in the Guatemala direction. That's about all anyone can do right now!
