First tomato

I was worried that the tomato plants arent getting enough sun in their beds. I still am, but at least we now have evidence that at least some will ripen! These are sweet 100s...a little blurry but so yummy....

The rest of the yard is looking pretty good these days.

Will have to patch the grass some more in fall--it's too hot now. Were also planning to replace the shrubs over on the left side of the yard with berry bushes so in a year or two we can pick our own berries in our yard. yum.

Dr. Greene in National Geographic!

Mike got a surprise this week when a former student emailed to say "congrats on appearing in National Geographic." He had no idea what this student was talking about, but it turns out his work got cited in the latest issue of National Geographic. Luckily they sspelled his name right and everything!

If you get the magazine, check out page 130 so you can start talking about how you knew him when....

If you don't, the article is here: http://www7.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/0707/feature5/

It's cooler in print though.

Fishing in Colorado

Well we thought we were pretty hot stuff after catching a bunch of fish the last few weeks... with guides. So when Mikey & I went fishing this last weekend we were reminded what poor fisher-people we really are. The good news is that fishing in Colorado invovles some pretty fantastic scenery. We had fun.

Adoption Update

Well there haven't been any adoption updates lately because there's not much to report. Our paperwork is pretty much done. We are still waiting to get matched with a kiddo. The Guatemalan lawyer now prefers to match people after some piece of paper gets on her desk... something we already did our part of, but that is still making its way to her through some gov't agency. So... that should get to her in two weeks or maybe a month, at which point we should be matched quickly. And that's about it.

We also took our second and final all day adoption class on Friday, where at long last they told us not to shake the baby. So there you have it folks, we now know that you should never ever shake the baby. Please keep that in mind.

Niece & Nephew update

In addition to the arrival of Myah, we would like to report that Alex is ridiculously cute...

And that Alice would like to own a pink plastic bed from Ikea... but, sadly, her dreams were dashed by her parents\, who talked her into a red wood one instead.

Mom and Dad Greene Visit Colorado

Mom and Dad (Mike and Cheryl) drove the RV out to Colorado and we spent 5 days near Breckenridge, camping along the confluence of the Blue and Swan Rivers. We did some sight seeing and some fishing. Beth and I caught our first fish in Colorado. Dad hired a guide and he taught us a lot about fly fishing in Colorado. Dad, Beth and I all caught several brown trout and rainbow trout. It was amazing.

Here is the Swan River which ran right behind our RV site. Dad and I caught several brown trout right behind the RV:

Here is Beth and I gearing up to fish with Dad and the guide on the Blue River just downstream from Breckenridge:

Happy family...
