snow!

at long last.

darn.

I fell off the photo a day wagon. Blame it on waiting for and then riding the shuttle bus to the Mt. Elbert parking lot, which is in Kansas I think. Sucked all the life right out of me.

Mike was so excited to go to his beekeeping class & then he somehow had the location wrong & missed it. But here is a stunning photo of him in his bee bonnet anyway. grrrrr

on front porch, to see if we can get the heat-loving plants (tomatoes, basil, peppers) to come in better. the backyard is too shady. nothing planted yet, we just built the boxes & made our "mel's mix"

spring

It has been ridiculously warm here. Instead of popping up through snow all the bulbs are coming up though ground that feels ready for zucchinis and tomatoes. I think we are going to go crazy and turn the sprinklers back on.

Sara has just commanded me to post this picture of Ditty (kitty).

And we don't want our other Frankie to feel left out.

happy family day to us!

Well that went by fast. It's been a year since went got to add Sara to our family. A YEAR! Tomorrow (the 19th) is the day a year ago we picked Sara up at the Casa Grande and started nervously waiting for the day we could take her home.

In honor of the big event, we are going to go to the zoo this weekend. Because we asked Sara if that's what she wanted to do and she said yes. Or as she says, kind of a combination of "yets" and "yesh." I'm pretty sure she thought I meant right that minute. And we are going to come up with some sort of Guatemalan-food-based tradition. Still working on that part.

We also...grandparents, you're going to like this part...went and got our picture taken at Target Portrait Studio. whoohooo! I have never felt like such a mom! Especially when I pulled out my coupon at the end. So we have some pics of the three of us and some of just Sara coming...holla holla if you'd like one (grandparents, you are already assumed). Here's a sneak preview:

Miss S is all about wearing mom's shoes around the house. She can walk surprisingly well in them. But she's so busy trying to grab the camera so she can look at pictures of herself that it's hard to get a picture of her.

She finally got the camera. And took some pictures all on her own. Here is one of them. Lovely!

We would also like to issue a blanket apology to the many various family members whose birthdays we missed. We are turning over a new leaf on the remembering of birthdays. Or we're going to try to anyway. Much love to all of you.

someone declared her desire to sit on the potty

We have no idea if she actually plans to start using the potty at the right times, but we sure aren't about to discourage this.

kid still cute blah blah blah

Nothing much new out here. Work is dandy. Kid is busy ruining our mop by "mopping" the backyard.
